Heavier traffic in Caloocan City and Quezon City welcomed the public especially on Quirino Highway, North Avenue, and Commonwealth Avenue which are the affected areas of the line’s construction.

Among the scheduled building projects this January is the rail tracks installation along Quirino Highway.

Additionally, tracks will also be installed toward Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) Station that would occupy two lanes at North Avenue’s center leaving three lanes to QMC and two lanes to EDSA open.

Traffic will persist along both westbound and eastbound lanes of Commonwealth Avenue as work in Batasan and Don Antonio Stations continues. Around half of the MRT-7 project is stationed along this major thoroughfare.

Later on the first quarter of 2018, construction of Regalado, Doña Carmen, Manggahan, and University Avenue Stations will also begin.

The MRT-7 Project Traffic Management Task Force suggested to take alternate routes and requested drivers and passengers to still observe traffic rules and regulations in an announcement last January 12.

MRT-7 is a 22-kilometer transit line with a budget of P62.7 billion which will accommodate an estimated 500,000 passengers a day. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

The rapid transit line will traverse Bulacan, Caloocan City, and Quezon City along 14 stations: San Jose Del Monte, Tala, Sacred Heart, Quirino Highway, Mindanao Avenue, Regalado, Doña Carmen, Manggahan, Batasan, Don Antonio, Tandang Sora, University Avenue, QMC, and North Avenue.
