Country’s leading Telecom Company PLDT and its mobile unit Smart Communications announced on January 2, Tuesday a US$28.5-M partnership with Huawei which is expected to transform the Telco Giant’s wireless service delivery platform.

This project is part of PLDT Group's massive capital expenditure program for the continuing overhaul of its fixed and wireless networks infrastructure and its information technology systems which is expected to exceed P50 billion in 2018.
PLDT chairman, Manny Pangilinan, said that this partnership will enable their services to become more agile, efficient, and resilient in developing digital services.
It also allows the Telco and its subsidiaries to propose more personalized offers and rewards for their costumers, offer bundled services more quickly, and to efficiently improve customer experience.
“This is part of our broader effort to overhaul our systems so that we can leapfrog out ability to deliver best-in-class wireless services”, said PLDT Group Chief Business Transformation Officer Victorico Vargas.
President of Huawei Revenue Management and Product Line, Wilson Zang, said, “By leveraging deep understanding of PLDT and our worldwide experience, Huawei proposed our industry leading OCS and eLoad solutions to accelerate PLDT’s evolution in the Digital Market through this Transformation Program.”
He also stated that Huawei is confident that they can successfully deliver this critical program in a timely way together with PLDT.
Pangilinan said, on Wednesday last week, January 10, that this business deal was "the first of many agreements.” Huawei would help PLDT integrate its online billing and service delivery platforms.
President Rodrigo Duterte turned to China on November last year to construct a 3rd telecommunications firm up and running by the first quarter of 2018.
