DTI Helps Boost Marawi Business’ Recovery

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is giving assistance to help boost the Marawi Businesses so they can get back on track in no time.

It is the business environment whereas the agency is still searching for the provision of more help and financial assistance to affected Maranao entrepreneurs.
According to Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, they are planning to allot additional budget this year to help around 80 percent of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) through livelihood programs.
As per Lopez and Trade Undersecretary, Zenaida Maglaya, some of the things the agency has been doing to support Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s order to provide livelihood to Marawi residents, are setting aside P50 million to fund the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) projects in providing livelihood starter kits, micro loans, mobile rice mills, tricycles, and others.
Additionally, they are assisting Maranao entrepreneurs with micro loans through the Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso or 3P and releasing through the Small Business Corp. (SB Corp.) a P375,000 micro loans in the form of 3P to 37 Maranao borrowers.
The P50 million that was set aside will also be necessary in addressing the needs of Maranao entrepreneurs such as in the aspect of loomweaving, woodworking, and brasswares by providing equpiment that matches their needs, Malaya pointed out.
“With the help of member agencies of the Task Force Bangon Marawi Subcommitee on Business and Livelihood, we assure that Maranao entrepreneurs will be back on their feet in no time,” Maglaya added.
Task Force Bangon Marawi is a lead agency where it assists affected Marawi Residents.
Marawi suffered from a war brought by the ISIS-linked Maute group and was declared liberated few months before the end of 2017.
