E-jeepneys are the part of the modernization program of the government and the objective of the program is to replace old jeepneys that has 15 years of age.

Old jeepneys will be replaced by an electric powered jeepneys and all modernized jeepneys are environmental friendly for those use electricity as a gas and not producing any smoke at all.

These jeepneys, according to Department of Transportation, are PWD friendly and more comfortable. It is a bit pricey with the price that is ranging from 1.2 million – 1.6 million payable on 7 years through Php 800 pesos “boundary” from the driver or borrower.

The Star 8 company introduce solar power jeepneys—the 20 seater jeepney has caught the eye of the government not just in the Philippines but in other countries as well.

One of the key specification of the modernized jeepneys are the solar panels. Unlike diesel or unleaded gasoline, solar panel uses the ray of the sun to produce an energy in order to run the engine.

The use of solar panel system can derive pure and clean energy from the sun. Installing solar panels in these jeepneys help the country lessen greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the collective dependence on fuels like gasoline. When fuels are burned to make vehicle engines work, they emit harmful gases that ate primary source of air pollution.
