Manufacturing serves as top player for PH’s GDP growth in 4th quarter

Manufacturing fueled the country’s GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2017 as the major key player listing an 8.8 percent growth.
Chemical and chemical products led the grew of the manufacturing sector by 2.2 percent after tallying 13.9 percent growth.
Other contributors include Furniture and fixtures with 32.9 percent; Radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus with 14.4 percent growth; Food manufactures with 2.9 percent growth and non-metallic mineral products (a manufacturing subsector that transform non-metallic minerals to products) with 26.4 percent growth.
In addition, trade, real estate well as renting and business activities also contributed to the growth said National Statistician Lisa Grace S. Bersales.
Meanwhile, there are sectors that posted declines in the fourth quarter.
Wearing apparel declined by 6.0 percent; Tobacco industry downed by 25.6 percent and lastly textiles by 0.7 percent.
Moreover, the economy grew by 6.7% in the last quarter of 2017.
