The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region 5 enforced a Price Freeze on basic products in the whole province of Albay as Mayon Volcano continues to erupt.

Currently, DTI-Albay Provincial Office is monitoring the price of commodities and they will ensure that those are reasonably-priced.
Basic necessities such as canned sardines, evaporated and condensed milk, coffee refill, detergent power, laundry bar, bread (Pinoy tasty and pandesal), salt, bottled water, and instant noodles will also be examined throughout their prices and sufficiency.
All wetmarkets, supermarkets, groceries, bakeries, and water refilling stations have received the Memorandum Circular to comply with the provision of Price Act.
Consumers, just like the retailers, they are also advised by the DTI that they should be guided by the price freeze list in their respective areas.
Those who will violate the act will face the fine of P5,000.000 up to P1 million or imprisonment of one (1) to ten (10) years.
Albay Province is already under a state of calamity as hereby declared by the Provincial Council of Albay with the help of Resolution No. 670-2018 last Tuesday.
